Sancharaka Udawa — Sri Lanka's Premier Travel & Tourism Fair

BMICH

About this Project

Sancharaka Udawa is SLAITO's flagship project and Sri Lanka's largest and most influential travel and tourism trade fair. Organised by the Sri Lanka Association of Inbound Tour Operators in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) as the main event partner, the fair brings the entire industry together under one roof, offering an exclusive platform for both B2B and B2C engagement and connecting tourism stakeholders directly with relevant government bodies.

Held annually at the BMICH in Colombo, Sancharaka Udawa supports travel players of every size — from established operators to new and niche service providers — giving them a stage to showcase their offerings, build partnerships, and generate bookings. The fair represents every facet of the sector, including hotels and resorts, boutique properties, villas, guest houses, heritage sites, provincial tourism authorities, and ethical wildlife and nature attractions. It also fosters stronger ties between industry and government, with departments such as the Department of Wildlife Conservation and the Tourist Police, alongside leading universities, participating to encourage student interaction with trade professionals.

The 13th edition, Sancharaka Udawa 2026, was held on 15th and 16th May 2026 at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Exhibition Halls (BMICH), bringing together over 250 exhibitors and 300+ stalls. The 2026 edition marked a significant milestone by welcoming international buyers and global voices on stage for the first time, hosting more than 100 overseas agents and unlocking new business opportunities for local stakeholders. The programme featured specialised workshops, panel discussions with industry leaders, and dedicated B2B meetings.

Through Sancharaka Udawa, SLAITO continues to elevate Sri Lanka's profile as a diverse and dynamic destination, drive bookings for regional tourism providers, and strengthen the partnership between government, academia, and the private sector.
